At the recent Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, a significant partnership was unveiled that brings together one of the world's leading technology companies and the charitable foundation of seven-time F1 world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton. HP Inc. and Mission 44 announced a multi-year collaboration aimed at expanding access to STEM education and preparing young people for the future workforce, marking an important milestone for both organizations.

The Partnership

On May 1, 2025, at the Miami Grand Prix circuit, HP Inc. and Mission 44 officially launched their strategic partnership focused on providing technology, training, digital skills, and mentorship to young people from underrepresented communities. This collaboration unites Mission 44's drive for greater inclusivity in STEM fields with HP's ambitious goal of accelerating digital equity for 150 million people globally by 2030.

"The partnership between HP and Mission 44 harnesses the unique strength and influence of our organizations. HP's ability to shape the future of work through technology, combined with Mission 44's drive for impactful change, makes this collaboration truly powerful," said Michele Malejki, Global Head of Social Impact at HP Inc. and Executive Director of the HP Foundation.

Jason Arthur, CEO of Mission 44, echoed this sentiment: "At Mission 44, we strongly believe in the power of collaboration, and our partnership with HP is the perfect example. By bringing together a global tech leader and local non-profits, we know we can make a meaningful impact for young people, raising aspirations and achievement, and enabling access to exciting careers in STEM."

Miami Launch and Immediate Impact

The partnership's first initiative focuses on supporting two Miami-based tech hubs: America on Tech, an early pipeline tech talent accelerator, and Miami EdTech, which aims to provide workforce development through computer science and digital skilling.

To celebrate the launch, HP and Mission 44 invited a group of young people from the Miami area to the Grand Prix circuit where they met Lewis Hamilton personally, toured the Scuderia Ferrari HP Team garage and F1 paddock, and participated in discussions with industry insiders about career opportunities in STEM-related fields. This hands-on experience showcased the real-world applications of STEM education in the exciting context of Formula 1 racing.

HP's Future of Work Skills Hub

In conjunction with the partnership announcement, HP launched a new online Future of Work Skills Hub, designed to equip learners and educators with tools needed to thrive in an evolving digital world. The portal offers various skills courses, including AI and data science as well as business leadership, along with resources to help educators understand and utilize generative AI in education.

Additionally, HP, Mission 44, Miami EdTech, and America on Tech have established the first on-the-ground Future of Work Hubs in Miami, combining HP technology with long-term learning support for young people in these communities.

The Ferrari Connection: Hamilton, HP, and Special Miami Livery

The timing of this partnership announcement is particularly significant as it comes just one day after Scuderia Ferrari and HP unveiled a special co-designed livery for the Miami Grand Prix. This special livery marked the first year of HP's title partnership with Ferrari and featured an innovative design combining Ferrari's iconic red with HP's signature white and electric blue.

The collaboration between Ferrari and HP extends beyond aesthetics. The two companies co-engineered new wrapping technologies that are 14% lighter and 17% thinner than previous versions, while being PVC-free and fully recyclable. For the first time in Scuderia's history, the livery on Charles Leclerc's and Lewis Hamilton's SF-25s featured asymmetric graphic elements.

Lewis Hamilton, who joined Ferrari this season, now finds himself at the intersection of these partnerships, with his charitable foundation Mission 44 partnering with HP, which is also the title sponsor of his current F1 team.

Lewis Hamilton's Commitment to Inclusion

Mission 44 was founded by Hamilton to support young people from underrepresented communities and create a more diverse workforce in motorsport. The foundation's name reflects Hamilton's racing number, which he has carried throughout his Formula 1 career.

Hamilton's personal experiences in education and motorsport have fueled his determination to build a more inclusive future.Through Mission 44, he aims to break down barriers in education and open doors for careers in STEM, motorsport, and creative industries, including awarding scholarships to help young people achieve the qualifications they need.

The foundation has already demonstrated tangible success. One notable example is Laila, one of the first recipients of the MSc Motorsport Scholarship, who has secured a position as an engineer at Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains.

Looking Forward: Expanding to the UK

Later in 2025, HP and Mission 44 plan to expand their collaboration to support schools and educators in the United Kingdom, increasing learning access to equip young people for tomorrow's workforce. This expansion represents the next phase in their shared vision to create pathways to careers in STEM fields.

From the Classroom to the Pit Lane: Making STEM Aspirational Through Real-World Tech

The announcement at the Miami Grand Prix represents more than just a corporate partnership-it embodies a comprehensive approach to addressing educational inequities and preparing young people for careers in rapidly evolving technical fields.

When we talk to young people from underserved communities about careers in technology, we often struggle to make those paths feel real, relevant, or even exciting. Too often, tech is framed as something abstract-coding in a vacuum, engineering in isolation-far removed from the passions and dreams many kids hold. But the world has changed: technology is everywhere, and nowhere is that more thrillingly visible than in the world of Formula 1.

That’s why the partnership between HP and Lewis Hamilton’s Mission 44, launched at the Miami Grand Prix, is so powerful. It gives young people a front-row seat to see how technology isn’t just about computers or labs-it’s about speed, spectacle, and the pursuit of excellence on a global stage. Formula 1 is a living showcase of how engineering, data science, and artificial intelligence drive not just cars, but entire industries, from sport and film to music and beyond.

For many kids, sports is the ultimate aspiration-an arena where dreams are big and the stakes are high. By connecting STEM education directly to the excitement of F1, this initiative makes those dreams feel accessible. It answers the question every student asks: “Why do I have to learn this?” When they see engineers, data analysts, and AI experts working alongside world-famous athletes, suddenly a career in tech isn’t just possible-it’s desirable.

Research and real-world programs show that when STEM is tied to sports, engagement soars. In one study, 89% of students said it was easier to learn STEM concepts through sports, and programs that combine hands-on, real-world relevance with physical activity have proven especially effective for students from underserved backgrounds. This approach breaks down barriers, making STEM approachable and unintimidating, and showing kids that their interests and cultural touchstones-like music, gaming, or sports-can be gateways to high-paying, future-proof careers.

The partnership between HP, Mission 44, and their involvement with Ferrari demonstrates how corporate entities, charitable foundations, and sports can converge to create meaningful opportunities and drive positive change. As these initiatives continue to develop, they have the potential to transform the lives of young people while also addressing the growing need for diverse talent in technology and motorsport.
